The Internet's largest and most popular general reference has gone dark. Wikipedia has joined a protest against something it believes is even darker: passage of the Stop Online Piracy and Protect Intellectual Property Acts.

NY Tech Meetup, a community comprised of more than 19000 technology enthusiasts, is planning a large rally for Wednesday afternoon to protest the anti-piracy legislation proposed by SOPA and PIPA. The rally will take place outside the midtown offices
